Subject: Collect all three!
Subject: Collect all three!
Ah, this finally gets unearthed!
Now you can listen to all three of the shows with Medeski that closed out 2004. This is highly recommended, as it's a nice tour through d'Elfian flavors. Each night has a distinct feel.
The Lizard Lounge show (12/9) features some of the most active Medeski playing on record with d'Elf ever, particularly near the beginning of the first set and the end of the second set. The Helsinki night (12/10) is much more quiet and mysterioushaunting evenand features the spoken word work of Richard Zuchowski.
I'd like to think that you can spot 12/13 right away as the one from Tonicthis is New York City. Maneri is out front with his avant-twisted electric viola, and Medeski continues to hang tough with a dirty organ sound that smears dirty paint across the bathroom walls of this no-frills, gritty venue.
This is one of those shows that keeps twisting and turning; it continually wriggles around to reveal new shades. Highly recommended.
